Morning Glory is for the members of Mission Lighthouse: an organization my friends and I created in 2016 to help the blind people of Koreatown, L.A. to make and share music. I began this project with the intention of using my experience in creative writing and art to do something special for the people I’ve spent the past 3 years with. I asked the members for pictures they’ve wanted to see then wrote a description for each picture in both English and hand-printed braille for both the blind and the seeing. I compiled these pictures and descriptions in a book I printed and bound myself. By painting their memories with words, this book serves as a mental picture library for them with which they can relive and remember their memories. In a sense, Morning Glory attempts to give back their memories.

This book was a gift from me to them.
